What is ACCESS SUPPORT WORK ?

It is a provision provided by the Government and/or funding body (such as Arts Council England) that allows professionals identifying as needing support to receive paid support worker hours.

I have recently provided Access Support for artists applying for the DYCP fund from Arts Council and would be open to this again.

Currently I provide regular Access Support to Artist Sovay Berriman. My work with them can look like a variety of things but below are a few:

Experience /Skills

  • Note-taking

  • Copy-editing

  • Reader - able to interpret written documents such as legal documents, application feedback, academic documents

  • Application writing

  • Budgeting/cashflow/time management

  • Physical support - ie carrying & lifting items

  • Personal Support

  • Representation - attending meetings on behalf of client

  • Accompanying client at public events, meetings and interviews - prompt for thinking & speaking, comfort breaks, arranging transport.

  • Experienced at public-facing working - i.e. running workshops, hosting events and public speaking
